How do I get a smart dog in Nintendogs: Dalmatian?

I have a Dalmatian, but he’s pretty dumb. He forgets tricks after I teach them to him, especially after he learned more than three. He’s good at agility training, but I want another dog that is good at obedience. What is the personality type for dogs that are good at tricks, and can I get a smart beagle? For the record, I keep practising tricks with my Dalmatian and reinforce them by petting him when he gets them, but he still misses them half the time.
When you buy a dog, read the description. It helps A LOT. Try “easy for new players.” “smart” etc. If you cannot find the right one you can go back to the breed type and click the breed you want again. Do it over and over again until you’re satisfy with the dog personalities. And buy it!
P.S. You might want to start the whole game over by holding all the buttons when you enter the warning screen, I think. For more exact direction read the manual on how to delete the file.
